THIS WEEK
It’s always a treat to watch TALIB KWELI on our stage, but don’t just take our word for it. The Brooklyn-based MC and activist will be joined by STYLES P and K’VALENTINE tonight (February 2). Tickets are still available! A local showcase will be quickly following on Friday night, featuring CELLRS, REVOLT CODA, FREY GEOFFREX, and many more. Get your tickets now.

Next week brings us a sold-out trifecta thanks to a night with soulful Londoner SAMPHA (Monday, February 26) and two nights (Wednesday and Thursday) of hometown stunner NONAME. Share your best show shots with us on Instagram @MetroChicago!

TRACK OF THE WEEK: The Orwells | “Black Francis”

METRO IN THE NEWS: Vince Staples might have a surprise release up his sleeve…and it supposedly drops tomorrow. | Ty Segall brought a knock-down-drag-out set to World Café last week—give it a listen. | Not to be out-partied, The Menzingers will be releasing their own “After The Party” beer with Neshaminy Creek.

BLACK JOE LEWIS & THE HONEYBEARS
DAMS OF THE WEST

$21 Adv. // Doors: 10PM / Show: 10:30PM // 18+

On their new album ‘Backlash’ (out February 10), Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears reclaim their original moniker and return to their much-celebrated take on classic soul and punked-up R&B. Bombastic but nuanced, Backlash ultimately unfolds as an album both joyfully chaotic and intensely cathartic. Known for their can’t-miss, full-throttle live show, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears are now gearing up for a 2017 North American headline tour, the band’s first comprehensive run since 2013.

Recommended Track: "Backlash"

THURSDAY, MARCH 9
JENS LEKMAN
LISA/LIZA

$25 Advance // Doors: 8PM / Show: 9PM / 18+

Jens Lekman, born and reared in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a songwriter, adventurer and retired bingo hall employee. Traveling our globe as a wide-open receptor of all it has to offer, Lekman repurposes for his own oeuvre the world’s great, lost pop hooks of past and present. In a musical language that has roots in the work of Arthur Russell, The Magnetic Fields, Calvin Johnson and Modern Lovers, Lekman’s songs serve as a reminder to look closer at the world around us, to appreciate the beauty when it’s both in and out of context; at its most heartbreaking, its most loving, and its most absurd.

Recommended Track: “What's That Perfume That You Wear?”
