Mason Bates, the newest conductor in residency at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, will be performing at Metro on Friday as his more commonly known alter ego, DJ Masonic. Expect the unexpected as Bates fuses the worlds of electronic & classical music, bringing musicians from the CSO to jam alongside electronica and house DJs for Mercury Soul. This event has been touted as a unique bridge between old and new with DJs spinning alongside cellists, bassoonists, and other instruments you would normally find in a symphony chamber.
