ART DIRECTOR (METRO / smartbar / GMAN TAVERN)

Responsibilities:

  • Understand, maintain and continue to build the personal brands of Metro, smartbar and GMan Tavern
  • Create all digital and print ad visuals, social graphics, and promotional materials
  • Work directly with all print vendors (advertising, merch, posters, etc.)
  • Work together with merch manager to create new merchandising designs, ideas and identify opportunities for brand collaborations
  • Collaborate with marketing team to create new promotional collateral and ideas
  • Manage and grow our existing relationship with local poster artists/printers, while seeking out new and emerging artists to work with

Qualifications: 

  • A passion for live music with diverse musical taste
  • Organized with strong time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines is a must
  • A motivated self-starter who enjoys working and collaborating within a team environment
  • Creative and detail-oriented with solid proofing skills
  • Strong graphic design skills with a clear understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) 
  • Comfortable using G-Suite and Slack for organizational tasks

    SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER / MARKETING ASSISTANT (METRO / GMAN TAVERN) 

    This is a full-time, salaried position.     Responsibilities:

    • Manage and execute all social media activity for both Metro and GMan Tavern with a distinct voice and POV that compliment our brands
    • Schedule and manage day-to-day social plans, including show announcements, promotional posts, artist content, venue best practices, live content, social + political initiatives, relevant holidays and events, and venue history posts across all social platforms
    • Create and manage show listings and event pages on Metro and Gman Tavern websites and social media channels/event websites
    • Work closely with Marketing Director to create dedicated and weekly e-blasts
    • Collaborate with marketing team to create and execute promotional contests and incentives on social platforms
    • Work closely with the Art Director to identify and secure all necessary artwork for timely social posts and emails.
    • Ability to attend and capture content during shows to digitally share the in-person experience with fans
    • Routinely implement current media techniques and explore new platforms in order to remain on the cutting edge of new technologies
    • Organize analytic data to determine best practices
    • Assist Marketing Director with various marketing directives as needed

    Qualifications: 

    • A passion for live music with a diverse musical palate and knowledge of genres spanning rock, indie, pop, metal, hip hop, LGBTQIA+ events, etc.
    • Clear and concise writing skills are essential, with emphasis on creative social copy 
    • Organized multi-tasker with strong time management skills
    • Initiative to follow multiple social media accounts for an in-depth understanding of industry landscape and local arts culture
    • A motivated self-starter who enjoys collaborating within a team environment
    • Strong understanding and experience working with major social media platforms  (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.) 
    • Ability to utilize social media scheduling/tracking and marketing/web platforms (Later, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, WordPress)
    • Comfortable using G-Suite and Slack for organizational tasks

    smartbar TALENT BUYER ASSISTANT / SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

    • Assist smartbar talent buyer in the booking process, including offers, contracting, creating and tracking show budgets and post-show settlements
    • Assist smartbar talent buyer in managing event calendar
    • Collaborate with marketing team to create and execute promotional contests and incentives on social platforms 
    • Work closely with the Art Director to identify and secure all necessary artwork for timely social posts and emails. 
    • Ability to attend and capture content during events to share with fans on socials
    • Actively engage with local dance music community to help develop new and existing relationships

    smartbar PRODUCTION MANAGER

    This is a part-time position, averaging 25 to 30 hours per week. Please email ask@metrochicago.com with “smartbar Production Manager Application” in the subject line, along with your resume. Application deadline is Monday June 21.

    Responsibilities:

    • Act as on-site liaison between smartbar and artists to ensure all production needs are met for a successful show, including advancing with artists and ensuring proper gear, transport, hospitality, and accommodation is secured 
    • Manage show production for each event, including greeting artist, load-in, sound check, and end of event settlement
    • Perform show settlement and submit finals to management and talent buyer 
    • Manage and communicate run of show schedules for each event with talent buyer and production staff 
    • Ensure cleaning, maintenance, repair & inventory is scheduled and completed on all production-related equipment
    • Work closely with Metro production manager for any all-building (Metro & smartbar) tandem events
    • Attend staff meetings as necessary as the Smartbar production point person 
    • Work closely with bar and security management to communicate production and operation notes 
    • This position will mainly consist of nighttime and weekend work, pending event schedule, with some daytime and weekday responsibilities 

    Qualifications: 

    • 2-3 years of event production experience, preferably with a focus in hospitality, night clubs and DJ culture
    • Working knowledge of the technical aspects of production, including the ability to solve logistical and technical problems, including lighting and sound
    • Organized and accountable multi-tasker with a focus in management skills
    • Operates well under pressure with a high degree of professionalism, optimism and collaboration
    • A passion for dance music and DJ culture 
    • Ability to interpret contracts and process show settlements
    • A self-starter that works well in a team environment 
    • Comfortable using G-suite and Slack for organizational tasks
    • Flexible work schedule as needed, with ability to work evenings and weekends
