Metro does not have dedicated parking for its patrons. However, metered street parking is available on Clark Street. There are also several pay lots in the nearby area.
Those who wish to use public transportation can take the CTA #22 Clark St. bus or the Red Line (Addison stop at Wrigley Field). CTA bus and train schedule can be viewed here.
Metro’s Box Office is located at 3728 N Clark Street and open Monday-Saturday 11am-6pm. We are closed Sundays, unless there is a show in Metro.
Tickets for all Metro shows are available for purchase with cash or credit card. There is no service fee for tickets purchased with cash! Credit card purchases will incur a 4% fee.
Unless stated otherwise, tickets purchased online are exclusively in Print at Home or Mobile formats. Online advance tickets will not be viewable or delivered until 14 days prior to performance date.
All tickets sold at door are Cash Only.
Attention: We strongly encourage customers to purchase tickets directly through the Metro box office, Metro website or Etix.com. The validity of tickets purchased through a third-party seller is not guaranteed. Entrance into Metro is only guaranteed with a valid ticket.
To enter Metro, you must show one physical and valid form of federal or state ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, etc.) as proof of age. Our policy is to request ID from any customer who appears to be under the legal age. We have the right to, and will, refuse entry to any customer who cannot produce a valid, adequate ID. We also reserve the right to ask for a second form of ID if the first form is unacceptable or unclear.
Acceptable forms of ID include the following:
• A valid, current driver’s license issued by the Illinois Secretary of State Office or any other state.
• A valid photo identification card issued by the Illinois Secretary of State Office or any other state.
• Armed Forces Identification
• A valid U.S. Passport or travel visa/passport issued by a foreign country containing the holder’s photograph.
WARNING: Metro will confiscate fake or misrepresented Identification and turn them in to the State Police. There are severe penalties for using fake IDs or for possessing another person’s IDs. It’s a Class A misdemeanor to display another person’s card as one’s own, or to lend a card to someone, and it’s a Class 4 Felony to possess a fraudulent DL or ID. Offenders face fines, community service, and even jail time. In addition, violators face a minimum license suspension of one year. These suspensions are on the public motors vehicle record and remain there for seven years.
Metro hosts events that are All Ages, 18+ or 21+. This information is clearly notated on every event listing within our calendar.
All events in smartbar, without exception, are 21+.

To enter Metro for an All Ages event; teens under 18 are welcome, and no ID is required. Metro is a safe, secure, and fun environment, but as always, we recommend parents weigh the maturity level and personality of their individual child when deciding on the right age for their child to be allowed to attend concerts. All Ages events end at 10pm.
If the show is 18+ and a person under the age of 18 wishes to attend; they will need to bring a parent/legal guardian with them. The parent/legal guardian must purchase their own ticket, must remain within a few feet of the underage person throughout the entire event, and must agree to take full responsibility for the underage person while on the premises. Please note that this is applicable to parents and legal guardians only––other friends or relatives may not substitute for parents. We reserve the right to ask for proof of a parental/legal guardianship relationship.
Patrons under the age of 21 may not consume alcohol under any circumstances, and any minor who is caught consuming alcohol, or anyone providing alcohol to a minor, will be asked to leave and may be turned over to law enforcement.
For your convenience, we have three ATM machines located within the venue.

Metro is a General Admission/Standing Room Only venue and resides in a 100-year-old Auditorium Hall. Due to its historical nature, there may be structural limitations on accessibility for guests who are mobility challenged. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) passed in 1990, Metro has removed structural barriers when readily achievable to do so. When making determinations regarding accessibility and providing assistance, patron safety is of the utmost importance and our policies are in place to make sure that all patrons may be evacuated safely in the event of an emergency.
To access the venue space where the stage is viewable, there are two flights of stairs. Our accessibility seating is up two more flights of stairs on our balcony level. (In total, there are 41 stairs to get to the balcony level). Unfortunately this means we are not wheelchair accessible. There are handrails on each staircase, with landing platforms on each level. Men’s restrooms are located on the lobby level while women’s restrooms are located on the third floor balcony level.
Limited seating is available for our guests with special needs on the 3rd floor balcony level and may be reserved upon request. To reserve seating, please contact our staff at ask@metrochicago.com at least two weeks prior to the event. Seating is allocated on a first come-first served basis. Please note, we cannot guarantee seating will be available for non-mobility challenged guests within your party. If assistance is needed while onsite, please notify a staff member.
Hearing Assistance Requests:
If you require hearing assistance for an event, please email us directly at ask@metrochicago.com with at least three weeks notice.
Cameras: Flash photography, video or audio recording devices are not permitted during Metro shows. All professional cameras (ie: a camera with a detachable lens) must be checked at coat check, unless a photo pass has been provided by Metro staff. Small, digital cameras are allowed.
Bags: Backpacks and bags that are larger than 9″ x 11″ must be checked. For your convenience, we offer Coat & Bag Check for $4 (cash only). Bags may be inspected at security’s discretion.
Per City of Chicago guidelines, guests are not required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or wear a mask in order to attend an event. However, vaccinations are still strongly encouraged for the continued health and safety of our shared community. If you feel sick or display any COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home and avoid public spaces.
We will continue to honor specific wishes of our artists or event organizers. In those instances, we will notify ticket buyers of any changes that would affect our current policy as it stands.
We encourage all patrons to “Know Before You Go” and refer to the venue’s website prior to purchasing tickets and attending shows for all of the most current information and protocols.
Alcohol is available for anyone 21 & over. In order to drink alcohol at Metro, you must show a current valid federal/state ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, etc.) as proof of age, and be wearing a wristband provided by Metro. Patrons drinking without wristbands will be asked to leave. There are a variety of non-alcoholic beverages available as well.
The Chicago Clean Indoor Air Ordinance was passed by the Chicago City Council in December 2005. The ordinance, Municipal Code 7-32, prohibits smoking of any kind in public facilities. Due to the ordinance, tobacco and cannabis smoking is prohibited inside and within 15 feet of all entrances of Metro. The Metro typically does not allow re-entry; however, for certain shows, we will allow re-entry for smokers 21 & over. Our door staff can answer can questions regarding this policy and whether it is in effect night of.
All weapons of any kind are prohibited in Metro and smartbar, and we do not permit them to be checked in our coat check. Please leave all weapons at home.
Emergency Exits:
Metro’s main floor has 4 emergency exits to an exterior fire escape, as well as 3 main floor exits. Metro’s balcony has 2 emergency exits to an exterior fire escape, 2 main floor exits, and 2 back stairway exits. Smartbar has 1 main exit leading to Clark Street, 1 emergency exit to the main lobby, and 1 emergency exit to the Racine fire exit. Before each show, there is an announcement directing patrons to take note of the location of emergency exits. All of our emergency exits and emergency exit signs are checked every day by our security staff.
Fire Extinguishers:
In the Metro/smartbar building, there are 24 fire extinguishers located throughout the building, as well as 4 backup fire extinguishers. All fire extinguishers are regularly inspected.
Emergency Lighting:
In the Metro/smartbar building, there are 63 illuminated lights, including exit signs, stairs signs, and fire escape signs. Metro/Smart Bar has 23 emergency battery backup lights.
Security Staff:
Metro/smartbar security staff is well-trained, and some are licensed security officers with the State of Illinois, possessing professional employee regulation cards and having undergone a special 20-hour training course. Metro/smartbar security staff have received numerous awards from the State of Illinois for excellence, including numerous commendations from the Secretary of State for our cooperation in deterring underage drinking. Metro/smartbar security staff does not use any weapons of any kind, including mace, pepper spray, or any other toxic air-released compound.
